Illuminated RFID card holder for safe machine enabling and access solutions

For their RFID system the company GEORG SCHLEGEL offers an illuminated card holder. With this product the expert for electrotechnics combines functionality with a thought through design concept, because the integrated illumination in the card holder has an important task: They precisely indicate the current status of the system.

The RFID technologie enables contacless and comfortable control over machines or a simple access control for facilities and buildings. If a chip card is inserted into the card holder, the RFID reader reads the data on the card and enables the function that is predefined for the card.

The visual status indication supports this process with clear feedback: If the system is inactive, the card holder stays unlit. If the system is ready for operation the LED ring will light up green. As soon as the transponder in the chip card gets recognised, the LED ring changes to blue and the functions stored on the card will be enabled.

Use in industrial environments

Made of transparent durable polycarbonate, the card holder is designed for use in industrial environments. Through its special design the illumination is visible even if the chip card is in the card holder.

This is an advantage in changing light conditions and if only short glances are made at the card holder. For the installation of the card holder a 30.5 mm opening is needed. The RFID reader that is being used with the holder needs a 22.3 mm opening. The card holder is compatible with all RFID systems offered by Schlegel. This makes the integration into existing as well as into new systems flexible and easy.

As an alternative to cards, SCHLEGEL also offers RFID tag solutions.
